Thank you Sandra, Jacque, Bornagain and Silverbelle.
As Sandra so rightly said, it's a very poisonous plant. There will be another great flower soon......:-)

Sandra, I have been growing Ricinus for the past few years, and always kept the seeds from one year to the next, but I haven't got any now, which is such a shame.....:(

Louis:

Beautiful plant! They are considered a horrible weed tree in most of California...especially S. Cal. However, I love them anyway! They become a 20+foot / 6+ meters tall tree with the same spread here and live only about 5 - 7 years.

Thank you Delonix1. Mine only lasts for one season, as the frost gets to them. How I wish it would grow for a few years :))

Louis:

Does it ever come back from the roots after the cold weather?

28 Apr, 2010

No, I have to get the seeds from one year to the next, but this year, I have no seeds, so will give it a rest.....

Louis:

If you ever need seeds let me know because all varieties grow wild here...such as: the green, purple and red leaf forms.
