The wet season downunder: On the way to work along the highway.

This was taken yesterday morning on the way to work ... there is no river beside the highway usually! By the afternoon the road was underwater.
This is the highway that goes south out of our city ... it was bumper to bumper traffic crawling along as I made my way home. Visibility on the way home was down to the bumper bar on the car in front ... a bit scary!

Yeah ... it was a bit scary driving through the water in my little car ... needed a good stiff cuppa when I finally got home!!

Yes ... driving in the torrential rain through roads covered by water or driving along roads covered in thick snow ... both dangerous and un-nerving!
On both days I ended up in a long line of traffic along the highway ... all crawling quite slowly and sticking together as it's easier to get through water in the wake of another car than it is when you've got to do it alone!

Yes it's totally scary Homebird ... the water came up to the middle of my tyres but my trusty car got through - both to and from work! Luckily by the next day the water was only as high as the bottom of the doors!

The car I had last year wasn't very flood worthy ... but my new car has been fabulous so far! I do feel a bit safer in it.
