Geraniums braving winter chill

Testing the adoptibility of plants.An experiment with geraniums braving the winter chill was initiated in2008 march. Geraniums were planted under the conopy of a Cedrus deodara tree 50% survived in 2009.The growth of the surviors was very good .the photograph of the geraniums was taken in Jan2010 and they continue to live till todate. Let us hope they learn to live in low temperatures. Normally geraniums are protected from the cold and stored in protected places from November till March.

This is a perenial geranium, does it have blue flowers? some of ours have pink flowers as well and we have geraniums that we grow in pots and they need warmth to survive in the winter. I take cuttings from these sort of geraniums that also have a wide variety of colours in the flowers. There are pelargoniums as well that have really strikingly beautiful coloured flowers on. Good luck with your experiments, It must have been an interesting job working in the forrest.
