Bottle Palm growing at Ocean Beach, San Diego, CA. This very tropical, slow growing palm is classified as critically endangered in its native Round Island, Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Most specimens only hold 3 to 6 fronds. Photo taken August 2008.

It is a very popular palm in the tropics...because of the great shape! : > )

It usually has a roundish bottle-shaped trunk when young.
Unfortunately, this palm is not very widely grown...because it is so ultra-tropical. However, I've seen some nice specimens around town. It is also an expensive palm...one this size would run in the thousands of dollars...if it could be found for sale.

Yes, a large tree commands a large price. I once saw a Bottle Palm about this size for sale in San Francisco in 1998...I think it was around $4,000.00. They're so expensive because they grow so slowly.
I can tell you with the most confidence...this palm will not grow outside in the ground in your climate. It's a cool weather whimp! lol! : > )

Even in San Diego...if this palm is not planted is a good warm spot...it may die.
