How long did it take to grow to this size please ?

Yes, it is limelight. It's probably been there about 15 years but would be a lot bigger if I didn't keep bullying it (pruning and "twisting") to go where I want it to! It' s very forgiving, sun and shade and no prickles...

I'm going to do something with mine now:-)

It's a lax evergreen wall plant (on the fence) Not sure how big it gets - it likes virtually total shade so it won't get much higher there. I've had it about 5 years -totally failed with one before - and last year it had loads of bright orange flowers. (in summer). I have a pic of them, I'll find it... Seems undemanding for soil requirements, that's a very narrow, rooty bed and I can't really tend it.

Probably too hot - too much sun. Its roots are now under the slab path. I might have given it too rich a soil, as well. I had a dog then, so it might have been flattened a few times (it doesn't willingly grow upwards!)

I looked up Mitraria on the internet and it seems to like sheltered gardens.... I wonder if that means mild climates, or free from strong winds... or both...
I guess your Dorset garden is milder than many other parts of England....

Bournemouth is comparatively mild and although it's never warm beside the shed it's a narrow space and doesn't get our prevailing SW winds.
