how does george and purple gem differ? I have googled them but they look so similar.

George's flowers are bigger, and the petals are more satin-ny. Similar colour - Purple Gem is a little darker, I think.

I will have to see them side by side to compare them.

Not easy - unless you've got them both - have you? My 'George' has finished now, although I still have 'Purple Gem. You could 'borrow' my photo and George's and put the two on your PC - that might help? You're welcome to 'Purple Gem'!
