Zygopedalum Orchid (Zygopedalum Orchid)

This Zygopedalum - (or zygopetalum depending on your dicitonary!) is a delightfully perfumed one that caught my eye in the local new Dobbies Garden Centre which opened this weekend.

Yes - Dobbies always had a GC in Aberdeen but of course since Tesco took over - they have expanded big time. Their new one on the outskirts of the city was not due to open until next weekend but their old one suffered severe flood damage yesterday apparently ...and we were all directed to the new one a week early!! It is massive and well worth a visit..lots of opening offers too of course!! An excellent restaurant too and it was all very busy today. Their orchids were very reasonably priced....some as low as a fiver! Needless to say my one wasn't....eeek!!

Nevermind the expense Alz you do well with your indoor plants, I'm sure it will thrive at yours........ Now, I wouldn't buy it, as it would be dead in a week!

I don't believe that for a minute!
Having said that - the friend who was with me stood staring in admiration at all these gorgeous plants - then headed to another display - and when I looked to see what she had found - it was a wonderful display of ....wait for it...artificial ones!
As she said - even those can "wilt"in her house....having once famously put one on the shelf above a radiator....and in those days they were made of plastic...need I say more.....LOL
