There's hundred of these palms as you walk down into Old Palm Canyon. I'll have to get some photos soon...when the trail isn't so muddy. Some of the younger trees were starting to die because of our horrible drought. These trees are extremely drought tolerant to...that goes to show how bad the drought was getting over the last 5 years.

You certainly need the rain then..

Yes, we needed the rain very badly! We're still on water restrictions....although, I have a feeling the rain we've gotten in CA this year will break our drought...I hope anyway!

Do you still get most of your water from the mountains ?:o))

Yes, we get much of our water from the Sierra Mountains and the Colorado River which comes from the Rocky Mountains. Then a small percentage comes from our local reservoirs....which are chronically below normal. The Sierra and Rockies have had a bad drought for the last 3 years...this year these mountain ranges are appearing to have above normal snow levels.
