Vine weevils

Vine weevils

I thought it was about time I re potted my Strawberries. I found these horrible little Vine Weevils in the soil. So they are now out for the birds. I have new strawberries to put in their place. I also thought these might not of appeared this year due to the cold weather we had.

Yuk.....obviously resistant to the cold, I have a feeling I should check some of my pots that I saw adults on last year, just in case...although I treated the soil. Feast for the birds!

horrible little things.....

Yukky things. I have lots of pots. Can anything be watered into the pots to get rid of them instead of disturbing the plants?

You can get vine weevil nematodes. They cost about £8-9 but are probably worth it.
By the way, the birds ate them and they wernt around for long.

i have nightmares about them buggers....i have been checking my pots and am fairing well so far...i use amillatos twice a year..it steralises the eggs and puts the adults off laying new ones....or so they ....

Armillatox...?

sorry.... armillatox....its like jeys..fluid..it stinks and puts the buggrs off laying their eggs. its an organic treatment...the strong chemicals that are in some of the comercial vine wevil treatments are dangerous and can cause health problems for those using it...

The evil weevil! I've lost Begonia tubers, they make holes in the tuber and eat them either outside or in the greenhouse.
