Coming up roses

Coming up roses

Albertine weeping standard rose. I have this weeping standard rose in a raised centre bed in my garden. It only flowers once a year, but when it puts on a show like this, you never forget it. Can't wait till the summer comes around again!

H Valadel, just sent you a pm, thanks for your comment, you won't be disappointed in Albertine, I only wished it flowered longer that's all lol!

Have this in my front garden as a climber - the scent is gorgeous, too.

Have got mine in a raised centre bed, Wagger, but, due to some gusty winds, have noticed it's not quite as upright as it was, infact, there's a definite wonk to it now lol! Will have to sort it over Easter break if the weather is kind, but yes,it is a lovely scented climber, as I know from the battle of trying to keep the stems weeping lol! Am glad you love yours as much as I love mine though :~))

Wonks add character, lol.

Ha ha, yes, Wagger, you could look at it that way I suppose, afterall, the leaning tower of Pizza got away with it for years and thats a landmark! maybe I can use my wonk to my advantage too me-thinks.......tee hee hee!

Now you've made me hungry! Could just go a slice of pizza - would prefer it not leaning though, LOL

Hahaha, oh boy, can I understand that! lol. Am a wimp, won't even get on a rollercoaster, let alone leave my sense of adventure behind on it Wagger! Me like terrafirma way too much! (Think she's the sister of Terratoonie lol) :~)))

Wow so many blooms! You're so lucky to have such beautiful roses in your garden, they don't like mine! :o(
They are one of my fave flowers but I have no luck with them at all. So I just have to admire everyone elses on GOY and try not to feel envious!

Hi Bb! Lovely to hear from you! I'm sorry to hear that Roses don't like your soil ours is alkaline/neutral so seem to suit them ok. What soil have you got over there do you know?

Hi Flori :o) Well my garden is mainly clay, which I thought was ideal for roses? I've tried having them in pots aswell but they barely last a few years if I'm lucky. My neighbour has the same problem, so we've both given up with them! The last one I had got black spot very bad, then it was attacked by little caterpillers. I got up one morning and every single leaf had gone and there was just one sorry looking droopy bud :o( I was so upset!

How strange! I thought they would have been ok on that too.....Just as well there is so many other fabulous plants out there to choose from, but upsetting that you have no joy with roses. Wonder if that is worth putting up as a question, Bb, see if anyone wiser than me could advise?

It's a very pretty colour!

Hi Pip, it starts off a baby pink as it flowers, then fades to white~at times it has looked like there are two different roses combined on the same stem...it is pretty though. Thanks for your comment :~))x
