This is the successful end result then. How long did the process take? Air layering is a form of propagation I've read about but never actually practised.

It took about 4 months over the winter Balcony. I think it will be quicker if you start it now. I am going to do it again with the same plant as the plant that is left is quite straggly now.
Thanks Sandra I have done it once before and it is very pleasing to get two plants from one.It is very interesting to do also.

Thanks, Richard, I think I will give it a go & see how I get on. I don't really want to cut it back unless I've got a shoot or two lower down.
I posted two pictures (3 years between them) of my Dragon Tree & the difference between them is quite spectacular!

It says to use sphagnum moss when air layering Balcony, and I used it first time. Next time I did it using ordinary compost as I did not have any sphagnum moss and it worked just the same for me.

I have heard the same but as I don't have access to any I was thinking of using ordinary compost, too!
