Have you seen 'Blue Ensign', Sbg? It's on its way, and it's the bluest-blue of them all! lol.

I did have it a couple of years ago but I think I may have lost it.

It's really late appearing - it's one that disappears for the winter. Don't give up hope!

You have just solved a question for me, I have a plant that appeared last year and I nearly pulled it up as I didn't know what it was, and this last few days it has flowered now I know its name as its the same as your picture. Many thanks.

You're welcome - they are lovely plants - and there are lots of different ones, too. You were lucky to find it in your garden - a real 'gift'!

Gorgeous plant. :-)

Thanks, Mw.
Sandra - don't give up hope - there are certain types that disappear over winter and then reappear. 'Blue Ensign' is one that vanishes, and so are 'Sissinghurst White'...and 'David Ward'.

Mine have definately survived but not as far forward as yours, they are so pretty with the blue and pink flowers and spotted foilage, although I do find the foilage irritates my skin.
17 Mar, 2010
Really? I suppose they are a bit 'hairy'.

Probably me over sensitive lol

Awww...don't say that! My husband only has to brush past an ivy and he comes out in a nasty rash...
17 Mar, 2010
It might be just me a touch over sensitive Lol

I love pulmonaria too. They flower for ages and the leaves are so pretty too. I read in a magazine this week of one that flowers sometimes before Christmas!! Mine are nowhere near yet, still just clumps of leaf buds in the soil! The article was by Carol Klein in Gardens Illustrated - April ed. and it was Pulmonaria Rubra that she says flowers so early - in Devon of course! There is a photo of a lovely pink one she grows called 'Hazel Kaye's Red' which I would love to have. Mine are very blue, almost navy.....

I inherited a number, but I've added to them, and my absolute top favourite is 'Blue Ensign'. It has one or two flowers on it now - but as it's pouring with rain, I'm not taking photos today. :-((
Some of mine do normally flower earlier than this. I'll check my photo files and see. I don't know Hazel - I'll have to look out for her. :-))

my pulmonaria rubra is in flower at the moment. It is a very early one and often starts in December.
