Painted Shade Structure

Coming on well ..What are the little pyramid blocks the up rights are resting on made from? ....

It's a foundation block. I needed them to make the structure even...since I live on the side of a hill nothing is level here.

Today the roof goes on the shade structure. Then the decorative blocks have to be put around the bottom to hold in soil which will be added later. The plants have to be put under the shade structure pretty quickly because with the hot and dry weather we've had my plants are starting to burn. : > (

I really like the colours used; makes the space larger and brighter.

Too hot to work in...I'm looking forward to the day I can say that! probably a month or so.

The Met office said last year we where going to get a great summer, BBq's every night ,but all we got was floods and cold..Now its a running joke ..:o)))

On a different note...my shade structure was tested on Easter Day, as we had a major 7.2 earthquake hit south of us in Baja, Mexico. It was one of the longest earthquakes I've ever felt.( and I've been in a lot large earthquakes in the San Francisco Bay Area) We've been rockin' and a rolling for the last 3 days with aftershocks. Luckily, no major damage in San Diego.

That must be a very frightening experience, not one i'd like to have :-/

I've been in some major earthquakes when I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area: A 5.9 on August 6, 1979, 5.8 on January 24, 1980, 5.6 January 26, 1980, 6.2 on April 24, 1984, and the Great Loma Prieta Earthquake of Oct. 17, 1989 which was a 7.1 magnitude...which caused widespread major damage and deaths in the San Francisco Bay Area region and beyond.(The Loma Prieta quake was the largest since the famous San Francisco catastrophic 8.3 magnitude in 1906)

I suppose you get used to it, living with it/the threat all the time.
Similar to a hurricane risk, my sister lived in a hurricane belt for a while and they just 'got used to it' - while to everyone else is was a really big deal !!!

Yes, you're correct...everyone has to live with one natural disaster or another as no place is exempt from it.

We're lucky we very don't get hurricanes(only one known to hit San Diego Oct. 2, 1858) or rarely tropical storms (the last big one was in 1976)

Hope you didn't any damage .My sister lost an ornament of a shelf but that was it.
At least your shady area has been tested, so it should withstand some rock,n,roll parties!!...LoL ..:o))))

No damage here...just a few pictures fell and turned. If the epicenter had been 50 or 60 miles closer; it would have been a very different story.

Hot? Its 95f up here in October!..blazing. 16% humidity in Hayward.

It's been 100ºF (38ºC) here the last two days, tomorrow is suppose to be a little hotter...maybe 103 or 105ºF. I hope not, though. Many of my plants are burning. I just heard on the news (weather) some cities had 2% humidity...the lowest humidity recorded in San Diego County in decades.

2%!..The 89 at hayx was a new record. Inland,in the city it was hotter and late into the night in the 80's..just not bay area weather.
I even watered the mangoes with 5 gallon buckets of water. I wanted it to soak deep in this heat. None of my usual thumb over the hose stuff- lol.
By December I'm wishing for this weather,and by March,begging!

I was so glad it was only 95ºF today. Although, the humidity is going up which makes it feel hotter.

I've seen the temps in the Bay Area...nice and hot. It's not that unusual to get hot this time of the year in the Bay Area.
