Geranium maderense - Madeira Geranium Blooming in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. (Geranium maderense - Madeira Geranium)

These plants started blooming in the middle of February...so I thought I would go back to Balboa Park and take more photos before these Geraniums finished blooming. Photo taken Apr. 7, 2010.

Glad you like this photo! : > ) These plants grow wild in shady areas of Balboa Park. Actually, I saw the park workers pulling many of the wild ones out in some areas of the park, this day.

I often find seedlings in my garden but most years they dont survive the winter.

Yes it was annoying Delonix, Sandra do you pot them up......

14 Oct, 2012

yes i do Dd. but you need to keep potting them on if you are in with a chance of flowers. its usually 3 before they get the wow factor. but well worth it.

DD2:

Yes, I can imagine how it can be annoying. Especially, if you put a lot of time and effort into keeping the plant healthy.

I've had this problem this year with all the heat. The severe heat waves have really burned my plants. A major branch on my Singapore Plumeria may be lost...as it was cooked when we had two very dry, hot days of 106ºF (41.1ºC)...it wasn't only the heat, it was the 9 hours (from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) of above 100ºF (38º) that really stressed it!

extreme weather be it hot or cold causes us gardeners such problems....

Sandra:

Very true. I see a lot of burned plants and trees around from the horrible heat wave a couple weeks back. It's been hot all summer; however, it was humid. The heat wave mentioned about was extremely dry, with the humidity only around 5 or 10 percent. It fried the plants and trees.
