it had shoots when i got it but they died and nothing since, may take it out and check to see what it looks like, i have other hollyhocks but really wanted the black one

We had about a dozen in the garden last year, but there's not even 1 that seems to have survived the winter - just stems left with no fresh shoots at all, so guess they must have died.

I've given up on them....rust!! ....:<(

You have been busy with all your plantings! They all look good, but I'm anxiously awaiting the blooms on your hollyhock!

Iv a Double Yellow TCG which is now 2yrs old & has new shoots coming even this spring! Rust can be a Pain but i spray Moti :) il post sum pics of its flowers Hmhb as soon as it shows some :)

Hi Jacque - big excitement - shoots on 1 plant & about 6 really young plants from last year seem to have now appeared in a more sheltered spot, although they are still quite small yet - here's hoping.

Thats great Tcg :) u go get some of that Rust Spray that u can buy & ul see a big difference this yr :)

Our biggest problem last year with the Hollyhocks was a green beatle thing that chomped holes everywhere in the leaves & flowers - wish I'd taken some pics of them as there were dozens & I could not identify them from any websites or bug books. Now that you mention it, we also lost some of the flowers to a browning, but I presumed it was just from the rain spoiling the blooms as we'd never grown before. :o)
