Brilliant.
I love moorhens (as you know) along with their fluffy, black chicks.
I find their spent nests amongst the reeds when I'm doing my pond maintenance. So perfectly woven, an amazing sight.

So well camouflaged....isn't nature clever!

I haven't seen a nest with eggs in it for years .. when we were kids we use to go out with a spoon tied on a stick to reach them , we wouldn't be allowed to now !

Lovely to see, Toto, brilliant! We have moorhens on the village pond so often see the babies but I have never seen a nest or eggs. I think they nest on the island in the middle of the pond where it's safest. Fascinating to see how its woven together.

Thank you all. Now I know that they are there I will keep away as much as possible so as not to disturb them. I do hope to see the chicks if they are successfully hatched and if possible get some snaps of them.
