Yes, they are available for sale in the nurseries here. However, I foolishly thought I could keep one in the ground until the next season. WRONG!!! It came back very deformed.(It looked like a tulip from space. lol!) We don't have enough cool weather for them to stay in the ground all year...they must be lifted and put into the refrigerator for their chilling requirements. Most of time people just buy them in bloom in January, February or March.
There's a guy in Orange County North of San Diego County who grows thousands of tulips every year. It's a lot of work though...here's the story link below.
