This is a very early flowering geranium, with large flowers. It's going to be 'trouble' in my garden, according to my book - but I'll tell you later!

It may do, but apparently it spreads and roots itself with tuberous roots, then vanishes during the summer, to re-emerge in the autumn! It may also be 'difficult' and refuse to flower some years. Well - that should be interesting, don't you think?

sounds like a truculent child doesnt it?
pretty flower though :o)

LOL. Yes, it does! Nice to have a geranium in flower so early, whatever it gets up to later on. ;-/

the thought of a 'teenager' geranium brings a smile to my face. :o)

LOL. I don't mind 'misbehaving geraniums'...so it can be a teenager if it wants to - as long as it keeps flowering, that is. ;-)))

Lovely. The Geranium that you sent to me last year has buds now so it shouldn't be long before it flowers. I'll post a pic when it does.

That's lovely.Didn't know Geraniums can flower so early, guess that earns it the right for teenage misbehavior :-)

That's what I thought, Columbine! lol.
Toto - yes, mine have buds as well - so I'm really glad that yours has settled down so well. :-))

I'm sure you'll 'keep it in order', Spritz :-)

Let us know what happens ??

I will indeed - I knocked the flower stem off when I planted it - luckily it was only a stem...and there's another one on the way. I was cross, though!

Oooh! I must look at mine for buds!
21 Apr, 2010
Oh and I found a black flowered one out it has big leaves? do you know it ?
22 Apr, 2010
Now - do I believe this? Hmmm? Is it a G. phaeum? 'Mourning Widow'??
22 Apr, 2010
Yes that's the one, why do you say that? have two small dark leafed ones with lots of buds too.......
24 Apr, 2010
'Mourning Widow' is the rather gloomy common name for the darkest G. phaeum, Dd. My G. macrorrhizums are juuuuussssttt about to open their flowers. :-)))))
