Epimedium epsteinii - 2010 (Epimedium epsteinii)

Possibly my favourite epimedium, this was only identified as a new species in 1994. Likes a shady spot and is quite happy with heavy clay in my garden

Unusual isn't it. do they get very big Andrew, have not had these before but am thinking about it now.

They are about a foot tall - perhaps a bit more when the flower spikes come up - and about the same across. Like most epimediums, they tend to slowly creep so you suddenly realise you've got a big clump. I only planted this one last year so it hasn't really got settled yet but it is flowering well which is encouraging
