Thanks girls....its beautiful more so than a photo can show. Its a bit of a straggly shrub, but the beauty of the blooms makes up for that....

Would you like some seed Delonix? I have quite a few, but Im not sure how they would fare in your climate, but your welcome to try them

Milky:
Thanks! However, I've read it can only grow in USDA Zones 5 - 8. I'm in USDA Zone 11...so it's highly likely it would not get enough winter chill for it to grow. Many plants which need winter chill do strange things here like: experience delayed defoliation which weakens them until they eventually die. It's not a pretty sight. : > (

Thanks you very much for offering the seeds. I really do appreciate it! : >)
I do see some plants which suffer badly from our winters here in San Diego. One tree is: London Plane Tree , (Platanus x acerifolia) it looses it's leaves then we have a winter heat wave and it'll start growing leaves while trying to loose its old leaves. It's very unhealthy for the tree.

Thanks! I'm glad you understand! : > )
Living in a mild subtropical climate has its ups and downs as far as growing plants/trees. We're not warm enough for the some of the really tropical plants and not cool enough for some of cool-temperate shrubs/trees.
Only low chill (requiring very few hours of cool temps) varieties of peaches, apples, apricots and plums can be grown here... and still, not too many are grown.
