If you look closely in the middle you can see that this tree had two huge branches removed as it was growing too big and blocking that house's view of the valley. Amazing, considering how much they'd chopped away, that it has so happily sprung back to life ...

Oh, that is a big branch that I see missing. Worth keeping in check to see blooms like this each year. Really something.

I agree GT. The deep rich pink is quite striking on those bare branches. BTW, there's another even bigger branch missing, just behind where there's the V of the two remaining ones - a bit of radical pruning !!

I wonder if this really was the tree that Judas was supposed to have hanged himself from ?

I don't really think they had the tree's interests at heart TT - the people in that house behind were complaining that they were losing their view ....so out came the chopper .... I shall take a photo of that view this weekend to show you .... !!
