i am guessing these are weeds, this is some of what is covering the slate in the well area in front garden.

If it is Ground Elder? its the most invasive weed and will just spread and spread unless you dig it up and control it.

NO DON'T !! Your best bet is to bin it. Don't try to compost it or leave it in a pile somewhere 'cos it'll be up and running again in no time. It's not Cockroaches that'll inherit the Earth - it's Ground Elder !

The green is weeds - ground elder the brown may be a Sedum? and could be worth keeping
