I've tried to get chives growing in the same bed as the queen of the night tulips...the two purples look great together...and they bloom at roughly the same time. I have a clump near the driveway that was accidentally mowed off with the lawnmower...lol... it seems to come back even stronger... wonderful herb..very useful in the kitchen too. if you have a hot dry spot oregano grows into a lovely compact clump with purple flowers in June...it's amazing how hardy it is...and it's delicious too.

Yes Lori..I agree...I'm always fascinated how it comes up again after harsh winters, and I marvel at the developments...they do increase tremendously in size, don't they! I have them in every conceivable spot and they're also combined with purple flowers like catmint.I grow lots of oregano, marjoram and thyme...I'm rather a practical gardener...I grow mainly useful plants. My favourite is sour cream, fresh cream, garlic and chives oh....and some herb vinegar hmmm! I think your'e right...we are similar in herb choices...lol!
