Hi welcome from me too I agree with Hywel it looks good, I like the seating area looks very inviting. Why not try removing a bit of the lawn down the flower beds (about a foot) the plants will look much more at home and fill out in a very pleasing way?

Welcome. I think gardening is a process of learning what you do and don't like and going with it so it is constantly evolving, enjoy it :~)

I am planning on increasing the border all the way around by about a foot actually - more space for plants, and not as much mowing required...
