Thanks Grammazoo... lol.Sid, ..and I think I was saying on another thread, also, that they are so special because they have their glorious time and that's it for the season... I like the punctuation of the tall reedy Blue Flag foliage...it looks great all season long... :-) It's very easy to form an attachment... and we aren't their only "victims" lol.... there is volume after volume of iris books at the library...I think they come close to the orchids for the number of varieties...lol...(well, maybe a slight exaggeration)

Yes, I agree that the foliage has an attraction all its own.... I THINK that there are some bearded irises now being marketed as repeat flowering....I'm sure I heard/read that somewhere?
I've got a question up on the questions page at the mo - trying to ID a water iris someone gave me....I bet it's in one of them books you mention at the library ;-) LOL

LOL... is it the yellow water iris...iris pseudacoris? My neice has it and says that once it is established it does extremely well.... almost too well... hope you have lots of room or lots of friends!!

Nope, it's a very deep intense purple-blue with a single gorgeous fine pure white stripe down each of the falls - there's a photo on the question I asked. I could be related to the yellow flag tho. I think this one is a vigorous one too, but it's restricted by the pot so far....
