It depends on the weather same as most flowers,But because they open in succession up the stem the first one out are often over and dropped before the top end ones are fully out.How long 2-3 weeks but odd ones will go flowering most of June. sometimes you get another small flowering in September.

Lovely, when do you prune them Bjs. Today one of the other volunteers at Suntrap was saying he prunes his in August and it always does well. Back to 2 buds. He has his on a trellis on the wall of his house. A few years back he got a frantic phone call from his wife saying the whole lot had collapsed on to the garden when a sudden gust of wind had finally severed the ties attaching it to the trellis. It is checked every year now. He can lower the whole plant, plus trellis which he has hinged at the bottom, to allow the wall behind to be painted every few years. Genius or what.

sixpence no chance you are prunnig the buds off they start to form in june 12 years is to long. one other possible but over that length of time i doubt you would recall ,if you had any problems with growth early on, the pink graft could have died on you,and left only the original rootstock.

Mine is supose to be purple colour and its not grafted at all, I ve tried alsorts with pruning no I would nt cut the flower off.

Sixpence I was a bit suprised that you say it is not grafted i am no expert but thought most were,so have just looked at the RHS site on them I was alarmed to read that seed grown plants can take 20 years to flower and then you would not no what you were getting ,Have a look its worth reading ,I googled it.Both of mine are named forms and grafted but have long since forgotten what they are.

Yes I know Bonkersbon done a blog on wisteria what to look out for and don't buy unless you see it in flower as some say you have to wait 9 to 10 years which is a long time. He said to look at the bottom to see if its grafted I have looked at some in different garden centres and most have no grafting. Its a good job I like the twist of the stem and the foliage less it would of been dug out lol. I shall take a look thank you.

Hi Bjs
I have a pink Wisteria too. I prefer it to the blue, it is so delicate.
Best wishes

Linda
I like it, wish it did not make so much growth it starts sending out long stems now and they keep going for months ,if don't check it they run up trees over shrubs every where ,
Love your web site very talented, i am not in your class but enjoy it which is fine for me, I am not making a living out of it.
