This is a Bauhinia blakeana growing in my garden. This is supposed to be a natural hybrid of Bauhinia varigata and Bauhinia purpurea and was discovered in Hong Kong. It is sterile , does not produce fruits or seeds.It flowers here (Jaipur India) in the cooler months of November to beginning of January, then it goes dormant, shedding its leaves, and starts vegetative growth in April. This photo was taken in November 2009.

This tree is widely planted here in San Diego, CA as a street tree...it blooms the same time here also.
