I have to admit that I sat on the grass and enjoyed this after the visitors had gone yesterday. :-)))))

Thanks - it's chilly out there today, so I haven't been sitting on the grass admiring anything...just telling people the names of various plants....

Have you done a blog re this opening? if not how did you do Barbara what was the weather like?

10 Jun, 2010

No blog this time, Dd...it was cloudy and windy, chilly but dry, so an extra fleece was needed We had almost 60 people I think....so with the three days this year, we'll have beaten last year's total. :-))

I hope that one of the GOY-er visitors might do a blog, possibly.

Well done, all that hard work was worth it in the end then.....visited an Open Garden today, wish I hadn't made me depressed, OH gave me a good talking to, came away with some great bargains (which made up for it)

Why? Because it was a good one, or a bad? If it was good, don't get 'down' - people will love yours. You'll see. :-)))...A hint - have a 'Visitors' Book' at the gate - and get people to write in it. It's lovely to read the comments later.

We went to a village where 6 gardens opened for the Red Cross - and came upon one which belonged to an RHS Committee member - it's 'work in progress' as they only started it less than 2 years ago - but already it's spectacular! You can see the RHS stamp on it, with rope swags carrying climbing roses and clematis. One side was 'done' and looked stunning. The trouble was that it outshone all the other gardens. I can't remember much about them, now! They breed plants...he'd bred a white Delphinium with black 'eyes'. Simply gorgeous!

What did you buy at 'your' garden?

14 Jun, 2010

We bought a very pretty Heucherella a new one, Hardy Geranium Phillippe Vapelle, Brunnera Looking Glass, Lysimachia variegata, and all planted...
The owner who was a garden designer, and very good, everything was immaculate. And Barbara he had this very rare Geranium which was beautiful, only one Nursery sells it, and the nursery is in Somerset!!!!! but, they do not do mail order..........if you are interested let me know.
