Love these Daylily, I always wanted to get some of the martagon type. Are they easy to grow?

Hi bellflower i have always liked these too, got this from the Gardeners World Live show about 3 years ago, i would think they should be easy to grow yes, i only have the one bulb, i do have quite moist acidy soil and it is in a shady spot on the east side of the garden, i just put it in and it has grown each year quite well, it seems to flower quite early i thought, i took this picture early june. :^)

Thanks for that Daylily, I definitely think I will try this somewhere if I can find a nice spot in my back garden. I need more flowering plants for that time of year so it's a good choice. I'm looking forward to choosing some bulbs for next Spring, it's quite exciting waiting to see if you made a good show of them.

i agree bellflower, its great in spring when you wait to see if the plants you planted previously are coming through, its a great feeling when they do, not so when they dont though, but i suppose we have to expect a few casualties occasionally! :^)

That's a fact Daylily, we'll have to check each others out next Spring and compare notes.

Yes bellflower will do, i still have loads to do in garden as have reshaped the lawn and borders so although i have some established plants still have quite a lot of new planting space, and have got to plant a complete new border across the bottom of my garden, still a work in progress, a bit like starting over again, cant believe its august already! :^)

Too true DL, I always think it's exciting to have a whole area to plant and try and decide what I want and where. Sometimes it's just a bit of luck if you get a great combination, but it still gives you a lift that you chose it doesn't it. This time next year I'll probably have to start thinning out this year's plants as I do tend to over-plant as I can't resist buying on impulse. The only rouble this year has been all the insects in the garden which have made a meal of me now for the last 2 or 3 weeks. It almost put me off tidying etc.

Yes we were away last week and i can see a few things need tidying and weeds again, its just getting the time with working and the kids off school, housework etc, as i said before time flies doesnt it, i must admit im not keen on the insects either and as autumn comes i always think there are loads of spiders in the garden, i always think for me there is a bit of a lull this time of year but still could be doing loads in the garden X
