Great close up!... the old folks used to call this plant "widow maker"...strange huh? I've never been able to find the rationale for that.

No Lori I haven't, but I have heard the native blue blooming variety called Nature's Geiger Counter, seems there is evidence that the plant's blue stamen hairs (of which each blossom has many) mutate easily in the presence of radiation and turn pink. I have lots of the blue-purple ones too, and they have blue stamen hairs, so I guess I can rest easy that there has not been any excess radiation in my back yard lately....lol.
