Dendrocalamus giganteus - Giant Tropical Bamboo

This bamboo, native to Burma, may be the largest in the world. Its leaves can grow almost 2 feet long and 4 inches wide. Some of the stems are almost 90 feet/ 28 meters tall. Photo taken at Quail Botanical Gardens on July 6, 2010.

I think this one is a clumping type...not a runner. With that being said, I still wouldn't want this giant in my yard. LOL! : > )
