I received this letter of apology today from Van Meuwen, what great customer care and how unusual among businesses of this kind. I had ordered a geranium collection I geranium double jewel, 1 g.birch's double and 1 g.summer skies. At the time I emailed them, only the double jewel had opened....it was not double jewel, in fact a small insipid single. I had a problem withT&M super poppies too and received only a refund for the plants which were minute and virtually leafless, half dead. They took ages to come too, I thought i could have flowers from them this summer, fat chance. The email contained a grudging apology, mentioning the time they had spent in transit as excuse and extolling the virtue of T&M.The plants should never have been sent out at the size they were, I've seen better growth on a plug plant. I will not be using them again, but will certainly use Van Meuwen again. This letter through the post was such a pleasant surpise. I have had quite a few things from them with no problem, but it's when there is a problem that you see the company ethos:-)

It's good they did that.

Yes, it would make such a difference if all mailorder plant companies behaved in this way. I had vowed that I would buy no more mail order plants, but this has changed my mind...well I will from VM. Mail order relies on trust and if you can't trust them, you won't order again:-)

I ordered plug plants this year from Van Meuwen. They were good plants, but wasn't until they bloomed that I realised they were not the variety I'd ordered. I never thought to contact the company, just donated the plants to the plant stall at the school. I will certainly use this company again, however, and am impressed with the customer care you received.

I'll bear them in mind if I want mail order next year.

Nice to hear about the good ones as it gives you a bit of encouragement.

I couldn't agree more.
I had a similar problem when I ordered the white form of Sollya Heterophylla and it turned out some weeks later to be the blue form which I already had.
No problem, we'll sort it out asap was their response. And they did - four days later I had the white form that was ordered. I'd recommend them every time.
