Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon'

Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon' (Houttuynia cordata (Houttuynia))

This plant can be an out-and-out thug, so I'm fortunate that it behaves itself in my garden. I inherited it, and have left it where it is by the stream.

I too have this near my pond and if I don't watch it, it is every where but I do like the smell when you pull it out,----- sort of orangey !

I have it too love it when the white flowers come out, but you do have to keep it in check!

I don't seem to need to here...no idea why it behaves itself, except that it's on the edge of an area of grasses, which I simply cannot dig..the roots are terrible - even impossible - to remove, so maybe it's met its match there????

We have the variety Flore Plena a double flowered one with faint red edges to green leaves said to be a lot less invasive and grows in a small patch by our pond.
