Tall and elegant with horizontal stripes. I grow it in a container as I'm afraid it might take over...

There are great, I cut mine down to the ground every spring - its so busy re growing that it hasnt spread in over ten years Macpat

I know the exact place for mine next year...and that will free up two very large stone pots for something else I have in mind.

oh thats great. Rightly or wronglyI never cut mine down till the spring as I think the old growth protects and it then uses its energy to regrow rather than spread an its over 9 years old.

I don't cut mine until the Spring either...I think you're right about the old growth protecting the new...looking forward to re-organizing a bed next season and when they've grown, will take some pics to let you see their progress...I feel they are restricted in the pots and are not displaying their true beauty.
