Just had a look at your other pics Ernie. The one with the seating looks great. I notice that you're not too interested in flowers...wondered if you are planning any evergreen shrubs etc. to soften the rectangle of the beautiful lawn? Great garden though....simple is very effective.

I had bought a set of flower pots and planted some flowers in them and put a few pots on the steps and another in the opposite corner. The photos dont show this and i wish i had taken an upto date photograph now. I do like flowers but i wanted an area of low maintenance and the materials i used, help me in this way. I have plans for flower beds next year on the lawn. I've always had problems with drainage in my garden as i didnt put any proper drainage down from day one. plus im looking to reduce the size of the lawn also.

Oh gosh, I so sympathise with the drainage issue. If I had had any idea ...but the builders put our turf down and so it has only been as we have gone along that we have discovered hard pan at varying levels down under the topsoil. We've had to have a pneumatic drill to dig out some of our beds, and some areas are always boggy and flood as soon as there's heavy rain. Hope yours turns out a little easier than ours! :) You can always take more pics later....;)
