Thanks! I wish I had a huge lot where I could grow 5 varieties of mangoes, a dozen or so varieties of papaya, lychee, longan, avocados, star fruit, and many other tropical fruits.

Well, having about 60 herbivorous or omnivorous turtles that eat me out of house and home, a few home-grown papayas or bananas would go a long way. Feeding them is a huge expense. I used to get free overripe produce from one of the grocery stores, but when the economy tanked they started selling it instead. There's a produce seller at the flea market out in Bowdon who gives me a good deal on fruit, but I have to work most weekends so a trip there often isn't possible.
Next year I'm going to plant a couple of native paw paws in the turtle enclosures.They'll love them.

If you lived here in San Diego...you could grow vegetables and fruits all year.

Yes....very few of them belong to me. I've been turtle-sitting for my previous employer for four years now.
