our friends 5 year old is waiting for them he loves any veg that is green and adores cucumber

Don't you even like them sliced ever so thinly, with a potato peeler f.i.? And slightly salted, or wringed (?) like you would do with laundry, as a cold salad?
Or for soup, just delicious!
Just some cucumber, perhaps an onion, some stock, and after being cooked and blended, add some milk (or cream). ;-)

I don't mind a little, my husband cannot eat it, he would be doubled over in pain, neighbours took some whilst we were on holiday and the rest I will give to my friends son who is just 5, he loves any veg thats green, he comes to visit and asks for cucumber sandwiches.
