Its a beauty Kathy, its Cyperus longus (Sweet galingale). I've just placed an order for aquatic plants but didnt get this one as my book didnt do it justice, I didnt realise it was a nice tall one. My book says the stems and roots are sweetly scented.

Ooo thanks for that Dawn, googled and yes you're right, is a bit rampant, would be good near your pond, when its died back I'll get you a piece, think I'll have to watch it now its got going, lovely drooping habit.
I'll name it now :-)

Glad I got it right Kathy. A piece would be wonderful later on, thank you. When the books say, "indefinite spread" I worry a bit, lol, it amazes me how quickly the aquatic plants grow. I've ordered a few more this week.

Know what you mean Dawn, been fishing pond weed out the pond , the dreaded parrots feather, which I never put in, don't know where it came from, got a barrow full, and you can't even see the difference.
Just put another picture of this on for you:-)

Saw your pic Kathy, thanks for that, its beautiful. I'm being very cautious about what I put in the pond now. I put a bucket full of oxygenating plant in mine a few years ago and spread like crazy, like you say, heap after heap had to be removed. Lots of things have appeared in my pond that I didnt set, e.g the dreaded bulrush.
