How much snow on the patch at the moment?
11 Dec, 2013
Marybells, I bottle, freeze, rootcellar and dehydrate produce from the garden. We also have about fifty fruit and nut trees. Potatoes and apples do well in root cellar. Potatoes last to about a month of the new crop the following year.
Theoldgunner, About eight and a half inches of snow covering us at the moment. We count the inches that fall and last year had a snowfall of five feet over winter. It settles of course. The year before we had twelve feet. It is good to have it in the mountains because if supplies the springs and wells and keeps the forest floor moist. Danger of forest fires here.
