I think it's called ... False Ladybird , ( chilocorus renipustulatus )

Thanks...it is the same size as a normal ladybird - maybe even smaller, so hopefully I am safe!

A black ladybird. If they are the usual size of ladybirds, possibly pine ladybirds. But, if they are bigger than normal-sized ladybirds, could be the dreaded Harlequin type. You should get them properly identified, Sooze.
