Thanks also Anchorman. I do enjoy my little woodland and the brook is a nice feature. Just wish I had more time to keep it perfect.

If I had a natural stream in my garden I'd dig a pond and divert the stream into it and then allow the water to run back into the stream once it had gone though the pond. This would create a perfectly clear freshwater pond and have no effect on the stream once the pond was full.

Funnily enough we have a very similar effect Anchorman. There is a ditch behind our pond which collects water from the fields beyond and there must be a Spring somewhere too as our pond never dries out and we have an open ditch from the pond back to the stream which acts as an overflow.
