Wonderful clematis... used to live in Guelph...sure miss the area. used to get up at 5 a.m. and go to the market...breakfast consisted of sausage on a bun with sauerkraut. mmmm...

Hahahaha! We try to go to that green trailer for sausage as often as we can. The guy now gives us an extra broken piece for our dog.. needless to say our dog loves the market!
Have you ever bought plants there from any vendors? I'm always tempted, but $8.99 for a Japanese maple sounds too good to be true.. that vendor was there last year too, and you'd think she wouldn't come back if it was just a stick in a pot, so I may give it a try.

Oh for sure!!! even if the chance of it's survival is 50-50-- nine dollars is nothing...! Is the vendor Mennonite? Their produce, flowers, even furniture and quilts are top quality... I'd snap them up if I was there.
Lucky you, Rosalieg.

The vendor isn't Mennonite, but she's been there two weeks in a row, so far, and was there a few times last year.
The plants are very very young.. I'll probably grab one if I see her again soon.
Our furniture is from a Mennonite store in Millbank.. great stuff!

there is a nursery on 24 just outside Guelph...can't remember the name but they were an excellent source for plants from petunias to orchids. Granted that was a very long time ago...knowing how fast things change they may not be there now. I bought a cotoneaster, one of my first shrub purchases from them. Breslau rings a bell...I used to get a lot of plants from the U. Have you visited the arboretum at U of G. yet?

I'll have to check them out.. I found a listing for 'Meadowville Garden Centre'. Does that sound right?
I haven't been to U of G's arboretum yet. We'll look into it for next year.
There are a few in the Breslau area that we like to visit. I really like Belgian Nursery, and also Colour Paradise which is in Mannheim.
The best deals we've found are the plants people sell out of their own yards. We got some great perennials that way. Today we got some lovely irises and other goodies. Can't wait till they bloom next year!
