G has built this from a tree trunk his neighbour had chopped down adding a couple of fancy hooks for fat balls to hang off and the third branch he is going to try and make a natural wood dish to hold water. Let me know if you think it looks okay!

I think it is lovely! Looks very natural (it is) I'm sure the birds will love it! Great job!

Thank you Rose Lady, but so far they don't seem to like this perch. The other one with with picture of the robin on it is very popular but not this one. Maybe it's because there is nowhere to hide around it. May have to think again!

I have a 'tree' in my back garden that has been cut down significantly...I think I may just have a go at doing something similar...worth a try.
My plan was to let ivy and later clematis grow up it too and I'd love it if the birds would visit.
Hope the birds adjust to the new perch, Bellflower.

Thank you W'lass and yes they have taken to it very well. I love sitting and watching them fighting to get to the seeds and one or two are using the little dish we added in the middle stump for a bath now and then.
Maybe you could grow something up your old tree trunk as well as incorporate a feeding area?

Yes, allowing ivy and clematis to grow up the tree was my plan...garden clearance and fence repair take priority for now...but it will happen one day soon. We do get ringed doves, blue tits, robins, blackbirds and a few others whose names I don't know and my idea is to encourage more as time goes on.
I love to hear the blackbirds when they sing....really lovely to wake up to even on a main road where we live...still see plenty of birds. They have squirrels across the road from us but gardening neighbours are finding them a pest just now. I love to watch them when they're out and about.. (squirrels, that is...lol)

To be honest, I never had much interest in the birds coming and going before but suddenly I am fascinated to watch them and get as close as I can to enjoy their company. We have a male and female robin who come and go all the time and the female especially loves to come and see what I may be unearthing as I weed etc. She came about a foot away from me today and I was so pleased. We also get great tits and blue tits and lots of sparrows and starlings, and the odd ferrel dove.
