Upright perennial, reaching six to eight feet and flowering from late summer. Needs a soil that holds moisture in full sun. Listed as half hardy but is readily propogated from cuttings in early autumn

Meanie - look for shoots that are growing well but not starting to form flower buds. Cut about the top four inches, remove all the lower leaves and insert in a pot of gritty compost (you can get several cuttings in the same pot). Water in and cover the pot with a plastic bag and tie in place. I stand the pot on a heated tray as the warmth underneath promotes rooting. When I see new growth, I untie the bag but leave it in place for a couple of days, then remove the bag, then a few days later, turn the bottom heat off

Thank you Andrewr.
That's pretty much what I didn't want to hear. I checked mine when I saw your photo and text, but the only new shoots that I have are very short or forming buds. I'll keep my eyes open for candidate shoots.
Thanks again for your reply.

The later in the season you leave it, the less likely you are to find shoots without flower buds and the more dificult they are to root. It may pay to take some cuttings now, pinch out the flower buds on them and try to get them going

This has been one of the finds of this year for me.
I've been looking for seeds off of it, but it doesn't seem to be offering any up. How do you go about taking cuttings off of this?
