A Royal Poinciana flower. I was extremely surprised to see some Royal Poincianas blooming today. We've had the coolest summer in 100 years in San Diego (up-to-date) and many parts of CA. I guess the last week or so of hot weather has initiated a few Royal Poincianas to bloom very late this year. Photo taken August 22, 2010.

This flower is one of the most beautiful we can see in a tree. The trees are not blooming here yet, it will happen around december when the summer gets power.
I'm sad to tell that one of the most beautiful Delonix Regias, which branches covered the street "raining" red flowers all over the passing cars, was tragically cut down.
The tree was about 30 or more years old, and our neighboor blame it was getting into the hydraulic pipes.
Actually we wanted to cut the tree to allow the cars park in front of the house since he has a business office.

Delonix, I'd like to re-phrase my last sentece...
"Actually HE wanted to cut the tree..."
sorry, didnt notice the mistake.
My grandma used to say a quote: "God gives nuts to the teethless ones"
I'd be full of happiness if I only had a garden to pant a Delonyx Regia, even if I'd never seen it blooming.
This guy had the perfect tree in front of his house and destroeid it in name of confort.
