Pond remodel...

Having a pond and possible wildlife is all new to me. After finding the two Toads I decided to add to my pond. I don't think that toads swim in a pond like a frog but I thought that it would be impossible for a frog to climb out of my pond because of the water level and the rocks being high around the edges. I added a cinder block and repositioned a couple of the rocks so that a frog can easily climb out. This will be good for birds too as I've often seen birds at the edge of the pond looking down maybe trying to figure out how to get a drink without falling in.

I really didn't notice until after I added the cinder block that it has moss or algae on it already.

The birds will love it too...they will swoop in for a quick drink. The algae comes with rain... it's a sign of health and it doesn't kill or hurt anything. Goldfish eat it...it's their natural food. The algae that is a menace is the bright green stringy stuff. but the little green scum is just pond algae and harmless.

Very good thinking Mike, I'll have to keep that in mind when we remodel ours this year, it's really looking great.!

This looks great! I'm sure it will soon have lots of wildlife visiting.
