While working in the back garden this afternoon I was delighted to find a couple of these little guys. I think that they are Toads. Can anyone tell from my photo ? After finding these little guys I decided to do a little remodeling on my pond.

Thanks Gillian. I had a large one hanging around my back garden a couple years ago. We called it Tod the Toad :) ( not as sofisticated as the names you chose :) ) Who knows... Tod may have been a Todette :)

If you have a Todette and a pond you will know for sure! She'll trill the nights away...and lay strings of lovely black eggs around the roots of your water plants... speaking from experience here.

'A toad in the hand is worth two in the bush'.
That's nearly right LOL
The hand is a useful indication of just how small the toad was.
(I guess it grew bigger?)

I spotted a HUGE toad in my garden, yesterday... he was fleeing the water hose, and moving quite spry for a fellow of his girth... also seen a number of tiny toadies...so perhaps this is Big Mama... with her little ones!! I have slugs in my garden but don't see a lot of damage to my plants...I'm sure she's on a lovely slug diet!!

The two toads are still around and they have grown quite large. I discovered yesterday that I have a frog in my pond. I saw it jump in the pond as I walked by.

Looks like a toad to me! How cute! I used to have two that lived in my greenhouse, Macduff and Mephistopheles.
