Euphorbia ingens - Candelabra Euphorbia

Do you have Euphorbia igens?

I have tried it as a houseplant... the last one I kept for nine years before I moved...at which time I gave it away. Can't say for sure it was E. ingens. mine was very heavy, with little white wispy tufts at the base of the spines. ...but after nine years it was only three feet tall and beginning to branch. Still, given the endless variety of what is sold here under the name "cacti", it could have been something else.

Most likely it was another species of Euphorbia. A nine year old Euphorbia igens even in a pot would be gigantic. Euphorbia trigona is a more commonly sold as a house plant. I've had a E. trigona 'rubra' as a house plant for 9 years which is almost 6 feet/ 2 meters tall. There's literally hundreds of species of Euphorbia some do well as house plants and other don't. E. igens doesn't do well as a house plant because it needs a tremendous amount of sun and heat. : > )
