Tropical Allamanda for sale at my favorite nursery in San Diego, CA. Posted for my friend Meanie. Unfortunately, they were all sold out of Allamanda violacea - Purple Trumpet vine. Photo taken on August 31, 2010. This vine grows well on a trellis, pergola and on cyclone fences here.

Yes, they are very common in tropical and subtropical climates.

They were pretty expensive. They were in 5 gallon or 7 gallon containers and priced about $25.00.
This nursery tends to have higher prices than many others but they good quality plants....and have several certified nursery men on their staff.

Sixteen pounds then. Clearly a large plant, so probably at least half what it would cost were it available here then!

Not sure. I do know it would cost much less at a Home Depot or Lowe's store... most likely half the price.
