apples on tree
Comments on this photo
Hope so, GM. They've still got a bit of ripening to do (there are more apples on the tree...very high up) and I'm hoping I can get to them before they either fall from the tree or get part eaten by bugs!
I don't know what variety these are but I did taste a bit of one apple and it tasted tart so I'm assuming they are cooking apples.
The tree was in the garden when we moved here 19 yrs. ago (keep in mind we were newsagents and did not spend time in the garden thus no development 'til retirement). It really needs attention with some pruning which we will attempt once the crop is harvested. I think it'll be a kill or cure job because it's never been pruned and is very tall, gangly and needs taming. I hope it survives as a mature tree would be a nice focal point in our revamped garden.
